Are you considering embarking on a journey to become a yoga teacher but have limited or no knowledge in yogic philosophy? Perhaps you have already completed your 200-hour TTC and felt you only just touched the surface on all that encompasses this broadterm? Are you ready to take your practice and your teaching to the next level by learning how to incorporate these teachings?
This course takes you through the history of yoga and its evolution from its ancient roots to the more common forms we are accustomed to in our modern society. We’ll explore the teachings of some of the most sacred texts on yoga and learn how to apply them to the life of a ‘householder’. Householder life refers to living a yogic lifestyle while participating in the modern world, something that reading any of these ancient texts won’t teach you.
We’ll explore some of the key aphorisms of The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Specifically, the ones that offer you a model for understanding your own makeup, how and why the mind works the way that it does, and the ways in which you may begin to re-pattern yourself in order to live a life that’s truer to your authentic peaceful nature.
Who is this course suitable for?

Meet your Instructor!
With more than a decade of combined practice and teaching experience, Lisa Nelson (E-RYT500 & YACEP) holds the prominent belief that we are first and foremost a student. Lisa was initially drawn to yoga through the physical practice of asana. She doesn't have a background in athletics or dance, and when she started to practice yoga it was because an assessment at her local gym deemed her a 1 out of 5 in the flexibility category. In fact, she couldn't even touch her toes!
She began her yoga journey with Vinyasa, Power and more of the flow style classes as she was attracted to the idea of being challenged physically. As she delved deeper into her practice, she discovered that she was in need of balancing her Yin and Yang energies. This led her to take a deep dive into more mindful practices such as Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation and pranayama. In her personal practice she balances yin and yang practices according to what she intuits will benefit her on a holistic level.
She loves that courses, such as the ones offered here, are available to be done remotely, so that more people have access to education.
Her teaching is completely focused on meeting students where they are at, in the present moment. She believes that with this constant assessment, she can help students find the practice that best serves them, as opposed to fitting the student to the practice. When not studying Yoga philosophy, spirituality, or the biomechanics of the human body; she loves to travel the world to experience new places and cultures.
This course makes up for 20 hours of the Online 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training course. If you are already a certified yoga teacher, this course will help you revise your Yoga Philosophy knowledge without any pressure of time as you will have lifetime access to it. Once the course is completed, and if you are a 200 hour Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher, you will gain 20 continuing education credits.

Studies prove, time and again, that college-educated workers earn more than those with only a high school qualification. College graduates often enjoy additional benefits, including greater job opportunities and promotions. Though the proof for greater earning potential exists, some might wonder whether the cost of the education warrants the overall expense in the long run.
College Graduate vs. Non-Graduate Earnings
The National Centre for Education Statistics (NCES) analyses employee earnings data biennially, according to education level. Findings indicate that workers with a qualification earn significantly more than those without. Since the mid-1980s, education has played a large part in potential wages, with bachelor's degree holders taking home an average of 66% more than those with only a high school diploma do. While college-educated workers' wages have increased over the past two decades, those with only a high school education have seen decreases in annual salaries in the same time period (nces.ed.gov).
